Xinhua Silk Road: Investment promotion event for E.China Shandong Weihai held in Belgium

BEIJING,July 21,2023 -- An online promotion event introducing investment environment and business opportunities ofWeihai city,east China's Shandong province was recently held in Belgium by the Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce (FCCC).

Weihai boasts sound environment for investment and business development,said Gwenn Sonck,Executive Director of FCCC.

Latest progress of Weihai's eight major industrial clusters and 10 industrial chains has been illustrated in terms of industry,enterprises,policies and market potential by Chen Hui,Chief Representative of the European Economic and Trade Representative Office of Weihai Municipal Government.

Belgium headquartered Bekaert,which constructed a steel cord plant in Weihai in 2004,shared its story with Weihai during the event,noting that the comprehensive services provided by Weihai has boosted the company's confidence to increase capital and expand production,eyeing to build its Weihai facility into the group's largest steel cord plant in the world.

Next year will be the 20th anniversary of our Weihai plant,said Adam Touhig,Senior Vice President of Bekaert Rubber Reinforcement Asia.

It is noted that Belgium is one of the important sources of foreign investment in Weihai. The use of Belgian investment accounts for 60 percent of Weihai's European investment received. Weihai city thus bonded with FCCC,with the latter help promote and search cooperation as Weihai's "City Partner" in Europe.
