WUHAN,China,Aug. 25,2020 -- Hitachi Elevator (China) Co.,Ltd recently won the bid to provide 22 elevators and 66 escalators to section 2 of Wuhan Metro's Line 16,also known as the Hannan Line.
The construction of transportation networks including light rail facilities,an essential element of a megacity, has been made a priority within Wuhan's economic development plans for the second half of the year. Despite the thrashing that the city took from COVID-19 and a flood earlier this year, the construction of Wuhan's rail transit facilities continues unabated, with the work on several subway lines, including Line 16,well underway. Work on all stations along Line 16 has started.
Wuhan Metro's Line 16 is a high-speed light rail facility linking Hannan District with the city's main business districts. This line commences at Zhoujiahe Station, with stops at Shamo Avenue,Mayinghe Avenue, the east side of Hankou-Honghu highway,Jingkai Avenue,Zhuankou Road and WIEC Avenue, and ends at Wuhan International Expo Center (WIEC) South Station. The line is 32.4km in length,of which 12.7km are underground and 19.7km are above. In all, there are 12 stations (5 elevated and 7 underground). Regularly scheduled service is on track to start in 2021.
Hitachi Elevator has provided more than 540 escalators for Wuhan Metro's Lines 2,3,6,7 and 8. Of them, four EX-BPGescalators for Line 3 have a lifting height of 22.4 meters each, the highest in central China.
Through the beginning of this year,Hitachi Elevators had provided more than 9,000 elevators and escalators to subway systems in 24 cities across China, including more than 7,000 BPG escalators for use in public transportation environments. The elevators and escalators installed by Hitachi throughout China have been noted for their excellent uptime performance over the 20 years since the first piece of equipment was delivered.
With the resumption of production and the return to work of most people in Wuhan following the peak period of the epidemic, the construction of rail transit facilities in the city has been further accelerated. Hitachi Elevator is committed to helping cities embrace innovative technologies,by providing quality equipment and after sales services in support of the sustainable development of urban rail transit facilities, not only in Wuhan but in all cities where the company has installed its conveyances.
