How Global Fortune 500 Companies Approach Connectivity and IoT with Tuya Smart
SANTA CLARA,Calif.,Dec. 22,2021 -- Tuya Smart ("Tuya" or the "Company") (NYSE: TUYA) a global IoT development platform service provider, hosted executives from Orange, the world-leading telecom provider and Sharp Consumer Electronics Europe ("Sharp Europe"),the worldwide developer of innovative products and electronics,to discuss the outlook and challenges of IoT for the European region.
As corporate users gain rapidly-rising awareness of the Internet of Things (IoT),the IoT industry has entered a new development stage. No longer hesitant about whether IoT deployments are necessary, enterprise adopters are now more concerned about how to secure better deployments.
According to a survey titled "Five Best Practices of Leading IoT Adopters" by Oracle,64% of the surveyed enterprise IoT decision-makers say they prefer off-the-shelf (OTS) solutions rather than custom deployments tailored to the specific needs of the enterprise. That's because such readily-available OTS solutions are backed by the expertise of IoT platform service providers and suppliers, making them easily deployable and easily utilized by companies.
So what are companies more concerned about when deploying IoT? And what will the future IoT landscape look like in Europe? Tuya recently spoke with Nick Chen,Chairman of the Board of Sharp Europe and François-Gaël Ottogalli,CTIO IoT for B2C at Orange, both Global Fortune 500 companies and leading IoT adopters,to gain insights on these questions.
Nick Chen said that Sharp Europe is focused more on how product solutions can better and more quickly meet consumer needs in different geographies. Chen also noted that Sharp Europe hopes to be localized in both product design and category expansion, and be able to quickly launch corresponding product solutions to achieve Sharp Europe's AIoT business growth. Chen said,"We want to be more localized to meet the needs for European consumers. We seek to do this by designing products in line with local tastes, offering premium audio products, and fulfilling specific category demands. For instance,Europe has a strong demand for outdoor products. Sharp wants to provide products for this market and combine with our IoT vision of growth."
Meanwhile,Orange has locked its eyes on interconnectivity across the entire IoT industry. François-Gaël Ottogalli said at the event that future interconnectivity will make possible more services. "At Orange,we continue to offer best-in-class services to end-users. We can imagine in the future that connectivity will make possible even more services," said Ottogalli.
The viewpoints of Sharp Europe and Orange show that leading IoT adopters are seizing on the newest IoT and connectivity technology to offer competitive products and services suited to local markets. They are paying more attention to how IoT solutions can be applied in different geographies to support fast deployment and IoT development.
So what can companies do to quickly achieve IoT adoption and tap into this market growth? A good strategy may be to team up with an open, neutral third-party development platform such as Tuya Smart. Speaking of its success and rapid expansion in Europe,Chen said,"By partnering with Tuya,we are able to easily launch new categories of products."
Looking to future services and growth,Ottogalli commented,"By combining our seamless user experience and by partnering with platforms like Tuya, connectivity will be a great area for growth of quality services."
To date,Sharp Europe has worked with Tuya Smart to successfully develop multiple categories of smart hardware, facilitating the consumer electronics brand's acceleration towards an ecosystem of smart living products. Orange has also partnered with Tuya Smart to develop the "Orange Smart Home" App,a solution that supports the integrated control of home devices like smart light bulbs, smart sockets, and security cameras. The discussion highlights that the era of stand-alone smart products has come to an end, while the era of interconnected IoT ecosystems is arriving.
These high-level presentations with Orange and Sharp Europe were part of Tuya's online forum "Global Smart Connectivity: Sharing,Openness,Opportunities," that featured industry experts and distinguished partners from across the European region, including representatives from Calex,EPS,TÜV SÜD,Wizlynx Group,BSI and UK Aurora.
