ReadyFundGo Campaign to engage businesses and employees

SYDNEY,Sept. 19,2019 -- On 20 September 2019,millions of people around the world will walk out of their workplaces and homes to join young climate strikers on the streets, calling on world leaders to act now on climate change as part of the Global #ClimateStrike inspired by 16-year-old Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg.

One Sydney business,ReadyFundGo,understands that there may be people working in emergency services or in companies with legal obligations to deliver, that cannot make it to the strike - so is asking for them to participate by planting a tree.

"We now face 'climate crisis' as opposed to 'climate change.' Adults around the world are being both inspired and embarrassed into action by the 16-year-old schoolgirl Greta Thunberg.

We know that for whatever reason not everyone will be able to join the strike but they can show their support and solidarity by planting a tree.

By planting a tree, individuals are taking positive action to help reduce carbon in the atmosphere, and also show their support for the next generation and their demands for swift action on climate change.

Imagine the impact if each Australian company pledged to plant a tree for each employee this September." Jill Storey,CEO ReadyFundGo

According to the United Nations,we only have 11 years to limit the climate change catastrophe. Without rapid cuts in CO2 and other greenhouse gases, climate change will have increasingly destructive and irreversible impacts on life on Earth. (Source:https://www.un.org/press/en/2019/ga12131.doc.htm)

With a 1.5-degree global warming scenario we lose 70-90% of the planet's coral reefs. At 2 degrees we lose over 99% (Source: Global Warming of 1.5°C,IPCChttps://www.ipcc.ch/sr15/)

Speaking to the BBC last week,Prof King,a former chief scientific adviser to the UK government, said: "It's appropriate to be scared. We predicted temperatures would rise, but we didn't foresee these sorts of extreme events we're getting so soon."

"For many businesses, climate change has been an issue managed by corporate social responsibility teams or outlined by HR as part of their graduate recruitment strategy. It now needs to be on board agendas and core to strategy both in terms of the risks it brings and future opportunities". Jill Storey,CEO ReadyFundGo

Australian crowdfunding platform,ReadyFundGo has partnered with Carbon Neutral,Australia's major carbon offset developer who have planted 29.5 million trees to date.
