SUEZ wins two contracts in the sustainable management of water resources in Southeast Asia

HONG KONG,Dec. 3,2019 -- SUEZ has signed one contract in Singapore and one in Malaysia with a total value of EUR10.8 million. PUB,Singapore's National Water Agency, has chosen SUEZ to expand, and maintain a system for real-time monitoring and optimization of reservoir and catchment operations for a period of four years. This is aligned with the Smart PUB Roadmap that targets to meet Singapore's future water needs and water resources management optimization through comprehensive digitalization. The second contract will provide drinking water to 400,000 residents in Terengganu State,Malaysia.

SUEZ wins two contracts in the sustainable management of water resources in Southeast Asia

SUEZ's AQUADVANCED(R) Urban Drainage is a real-time monitoring system that provides decision support to the PUB to optimise the operation of the catchment and measure water quality.

The contract awarded in Singaporestrengthens the collaboration between the PUB and SUEZ that started in 2015 to share know-how and jointly develop technologies to protect water resources and tackle challenges of water scarcity and flooding in Singapore.

Successfully deployed since 2016 for the Marina Catchment,SUEZ's AQUADVANCED® Urban Drainage is an innovative digital solution that is now being extended to the entire city state. This solution provides real-time situational awareness within the Marina Catchment using weather information and field sensor data in the network. By analyzing these data, the solution anticipates the levels and flow within the network and provides decision support to the PUB. The solution helps to mitigate flood risks and to better manage water resources.

In Malaysia,SUEZ will supply two drinking water production plants UCD®[1]to meet the increasing consumption demands of the population in the Terengganu State in the eastern part of the Peninsular. The plants will be installed by mid-2020 and will produce 64,000 m3/day of drinking water to supply to 400,000 residents.

The two contracts strengthen the Group's presence in Southeast Asia where it has been supporting local authorities since 1953 to improve drinking water, sanitation and waste management services for a rapidly growing population. Since 2015,the Group has been supporting the PUB in smart water projects, desalination and energy-efficient wastewater treatment technologies with support from the EDB. In addition,SUEZ has chosen Singapore as its business hub in Southeast Asia, drawing on an Innovation Center and a Water Technology Center composed of around 50 research scientists and engineers who support projects development in the region through innovation.

Steve Clark,CEO of SUEZ Asia, said: "As a world leader in smart and sustainable resources management,SUEZ has led the digital transformation on five continents to help build smart and resourceful cities.
