The notable win demonstrates Malaysia's proactive involvement in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors. It also acknowledges the diligent undertakings of companies to ensure energy efficiency and sustainability in the region as well as continuously furthering the country's progress and growth towards a more sustainable future.

"Our work to improve energy management in Top Glove Factory 29 has resulted in a 20 percent reduction in energy consumption from 2017 to 2019 and a reduction in carbon emissions of more than 4,000 tonnes per year over the same period," said Top Glove's Senior Manager,Chia Hock Yi.

Ir. Au Chong Hun from Primetech Engineers Sdn Bhd,who supervised Menara Weld's award-winning retro-fitting project said,"Instead of replacing ageing chillers like-for-like,we wanted to innovate. We did this by combining the tower and mall chiller plants into a central plant with a highly efficient variable primary flow pumping system. This out of the box thinking has contributed to a total energy reduction of 38.7 percent."

The event, held in Da Nang,Vietnam, was coordinated by ASEAN Centre of Energy; an entity of ASEAN. The award ceremony took place virtually on November 19 and was broadcasted live on the ASEAN Centre for Energy's Youtube,LinkedIn and Facebook pages.
