Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) Sets a New Milestone in Mobile Gaming
After six months of launching,it now surpasses 10 million downloads in Indonesia.
JAKARTA,Indonesia,Sept. 27,2018 -- Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile,an online multiplayer battle royale game, unveils that it has reached a total downloaders milestone in Indonesia by crossing 10 million, shortly after announcing the new Sanhok map earlier this month. Sanhok, previously known as Savage,is a 4x4 tropical island map that got its debut on PC in June 2018. The new feature is rolling out on now in Indonesia and it allows user to access the game's newest map through mobile phone,as part of the latest PUBG mobile update 0.8.0 for Android and iOS,which aims to deliver shorter and more consistently interesting matches through the smaller play area.

Set in a dense jungle with varying landscape,Sanhok map offers players a smaller map,or one-fourth the size of the previous Erangel and Miramar. Tencent Games,an official emulator for PUBG mobile, stated that it will allow hundreds of human players parachuting onto an island with an ever-shrinking battlefield, adding to the list of previous updates such as the Miramar map, training mode, and first-person mode. Thus, players will experience more intense match scenarios and gun battles with higher player density. This new update to PUBG will also bring with it the return of map selection,as well as a ranking system intended to give players more of an incentive to keep playing.
In addition to the long-awaited release of this new Sanhok map that can be downloaded independently,PUBG Mobile also gets new in-game weapons and vehicle. These include the new Flare Gun,an assault riffle type weapon exclusive to Sanhok called QBZ,as well as a 4-seater Muscle Car and Bulletproof UAZ. Furthermore,PUBG Mobile also reveals more updates in social features to enhance the player's ability to work with teammates cooperatively, including:
Anti-Cheating Measures that aims to improved recognition for cheating plug-ins and added report buttons to Spectator Mode,Basic Information, and Results screens.
Season Data involving season page to show all seasons player and relevant data, including titles, highest tier reached and more.
Gameplay Improvements that have been made to the chat system, clan rankings, air drop items, friends list and more.
Through these improvements and new ranking systems,PUBG will help more real players to level up and deeply engage to the mobile version. According to a data by PUBG Mobile, since its launch in 2017,PUBG now achieves 20 million daily active users, excluding Japan,Korea, and China. In Indonesia, there are 5 million monthly active users,or half the country's total downloaders of 10 million. In season 2,or the previous 14-week period of games, more than 130 million players from more than 200 countries earned themselves 864,425,575 chicken dinners,or notable mentions for PUBG's winners.
With the largest population in Southeast Asia,Indonesia is the biggest mobile games market by both revenue and players. According to Sensor Tower, the number of mobile gamers in Indonesia is expected to surpass 100 million in 2019. The 2018 Sensor Tower research also stated,Tencent has now crowned as a new champion of the mobile gaming battlefield worldwide, with the PUBG Mobile claimed as the world's most downloaded mobile game.
PUBG Mobile is available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play.
