Each artwork is viewed at different locations throughout ASHK's historic heritage complex and has an augmented reality component experienced through the Liminal Encounters BNY Mellon mobile application. The art exhibition features virtually five contemporary artworks selected from the BNY Mellon art collection, alongside three on-site installations commissioned from Hong Kong artists.

David Cruikshank,Chairman of Asia Pacific,BNY Mellon said,"With more than a hundred years of serving clients in Asia Pacific,BNY Mellon chose Hong Kong as its first stronghold sixty years ago. We are proud to have played an important role in Hong Kong's growth as a global financial center and cultural hub. Liminal Encounters speaks directly to the importance of combining technology and innovation with creative thinking, especially in today's fast-changing world. We remain committed to serving our clients and further investing in the city's future."

The title "Liminal Encounters" refers to how each artwork in the exhibition is a unique experience in between physical and virtual worlds. From the BNY Mellon art and artifacts collection, artworks by Kikuji Kawada,Bharti Kher,Lee Bul,Toshio Shibata and Sarah Sze are presented virtually for their resonance with ASHK's site history, and their response to the site's contemporary transformation bridging the natural and the manmade. Three local artists,Peter Nelson and Trevor Yeung, were also invited to create site-specific installations that make use of augmented reality to rethink the impact of technology on our natural environment and daily lives.

S. Alice Mong, said,"We are very proud to support BNY Mellon in presenting Liminal Encounters in Hong Kong. We are showcasing three local artists' artworks and five artworks from the BNY Mellon collection with specific locations in our heritage site as background. This exhibition is about art, technology and the environment, and provides a unique experience for the visitor. Technology can reshape art,art can provide the creative content for technology, and the environment ties them together. The effect is a wonderful collaboration of art and technology and its emotional transformation."

BNY Mellon's art collection reflects the company's heritage, culture and values. It spans four centuries, features artists of more than 30 nationalities, and is on view in 15 countries.

About Liminal Encounters- An Augmented Reality Exhibition

Liminal Encounters is an outdoor art journey that explores the ways technology integrates the virtual world with our real life through artworks that make use of augmented reality (AR). As we are used to accessing information digitally in all aspects of life, the gap between the real and virtual grows closer every day. The three themes of the exhibition reflect the transformation of nature and the city, the impact of virtual information and the place of the individual within a world in flux. You are invited to use your smart device to virtually view the works by Kikuji Kawada,Toshio Shibata and Sarah Sze from the BNY Mellon collection,as well as three on-site commissioned installations by Carla Chan,Peter Nelson and Trevor Yeung. Through AR,this journey encourages you to view your surroundings through new perspectives.About BNY Mellon
