Cheongju Craft Biennale, "Craft and Food Culture Workshop" draws curtains in success in Sydney, Australia

SEOUL,South Korea,Feb. 19,2019 -- The organizing committee of the Cheongju Craft Biennale announced that the "Craft and Food Culture Workshop" was held successfully from February 8th until the 12th.

The International Exchange Exhibition "A Scholar's Table-- A story of Cheonghu's Taste and Style" also drew in a large crowd,and will be continued to be on display until April 19th at the Korean Culture Centre in Sydney,Australia.

The workshop was divided into "Food Culture" and "Craft" parts,and was held at the Chatswood Library,the Hanok Experience Space/Work-room in the Korean Culture Center Australia and at the Australian Design Center.

The "Food Culture" workshop introduced the "Side Dish Encyclopedia" and the "Shin-Sun Ju" or "the Drink of the Gods," while the "Craft" workshop provided opportunities to experience and take part in masterclasses for leather,straw,fiber and ceramic crafts.

Eun Jin Ko took charge of the leather craft workshop where participants could learn how to make tea-mats with a traditional Korean pattern,even in the comforts of their own home. Local Australian participants showed a lot of interest in the symbolistic expressions embued with the wishes of good health and longevity,and did not shy away from asking questions about Korean culture.

Tickets for the "Side Dish Encyclopedia" sold out in just one day,and those who couldn'tget the tickets still cameto visit the exhibition.The Shin-Sun Ju workshop introduced brewing techniques that could satisfy even international palates and encouraged the interest and query related to the intangible cultural heritage of Korea.

Local designers also continued to show interest and participated with hopes to find inspiration from Korean crafts.

Followed by the success of this International Exchange Exhibition,the 2019 Cheongju Craft Biennale will hold an exhibition entitled "Craft in Future and Dream-Spread out Mongyudowon" for 41 days from October 8th to the 17th.
