The event involvedMHIS' students from all stages, including Playgroup and Kindergarten,Primary and Secondary,as well as inclusion Development Classes for children with special education needs. Those projects were showcased at the last day of the event,on August 29,2019,in a specially designed booth adapting the Islamic historical gems.

All activities were set to introduce the Islamic-based learning integrated to Cambridge International education,by emphasizing the principle of multi-literacy and joyful learning of MHIS. However, only few integrate Islamic values as the foundation of the international curriculum.

"We encourage students to hone the emerging skills needed for global competitiveness, such as creativity, critical thinking and problem solving. Thus, they will take the lead in this global era, while creating progressive Moslem generations that are open-minded and able to step outside the box," said Jamaludin Badri,Primary Principal of Mutiara Harapan Islamic School (MHIS).

Introducing values for early years students

A mosaic of kids' paintings was beautifully showcased on the school's wall, each portrayed Islamic illustration, such as mosque and Qa'bah. Comprised of bright colored illustration, the preschoolers also depicted Islamic calligraphy using the eco-friendly method and medium.

They were ones of the 46 preschoolers' art works presented at the fair. On top of that, the children unveiled their best performances of reciting du'a and hadist, also singing Islamic songs in front of the audience.

"With a cheerful illustration and ear-catching tune of Islamic song, children from the early years could easily dive into various Islamic terms and values in their daily life," said Firta, one of the parents of MHIS' Preschoolers.

The next educational stages: creativity and innovative spirit to step outside the box

More than 310primary students showcased art presentations and short stories featuring Asmaul Husna,Holy Qur'an,Hadits,Hijaiyah calligraphy, and Manasik Umroh. All of the art pieces were publicly displayed in Haji's decorated booths.

In the meantime, around 15 children with special needs hit the stage with a special arrangement of Islamic song. They also brought their own unique skill sets to the creation of a tote bag, painted with Asmaul Husna calligraphy.

Secondary students, from Junior to High School, were keen to interpret the values through millennial art pieces. "Junior High students involved in the creation of short movie projecting prominent Muslim scientists, with a trailer publicly released on the last day of the event. For the High School students, they posed different challenges by creating a brand-new Android-based mobile game, that were exhibited at the Game Corner area," said Firman, the Islamic studies' teacher of MHIS.

Jamaludin added,"We've awakened students' creativity through arts enrichment rooted in the Surah, and Holy Qur'an. This not only affects on student academic performances, but we encourage them to build positive contribution towards the well-being of community."
