The Digital National Museum of Brazil goes live with 700 digital archives on Tencent's MR.BOWU mini program

BEIJING,Sept. 27,2019 -- The Digital National Museum of Brazil, jointly built by Tencent's QQ Browser and the National Museum of Brazil, has recently gone live. With image recognition technology and big data analysis,Tencent's MR.BOWU mini program provides visitors access to the digital museum, which restored the fire-damaged National Museum of Brazil by re-producing artifacts based on digital information provided by the public.

Visitors can search "the national museum of Brazil" by logging into the MR.BOWU mini program. They can visit and browse relevant images, videos, documents, historical materials and other information, fully understanding the history and culture of the collection. At launch, the Digital National Museum of Brazil contains 700 digital archives, including over 300 existing artifacts licensed by the National Museum of Brazil and the digital versions of 400 fire-damaged artifacts re-produced based on information collected from the general public.

On November 16,2018,the signing ceremony for the "Rebirth of Luzia -The Digital National Museum of Brazil" was held at the Brazilian embassy in Beijing. During the ceremony, executives from QQ Browser and the National Museum of Brazil announced the formal launch of the project, which had been endorsed by both the Chinese and Brazilian governments and cultural organizations. The President of Brazil also sent a letter of thanks for the launch. After the fire, the National Museum of Brazil issued an official statement on its plan to collect existing photos of the artifacts displayed in the museum. On January 10,2019,by leveraging its advantages in terms of product creation and user base,Tencent rolled out a campaign in China to collect photos and other content from Chinese tourists who had visited the museum, and to use that content to create the digital library that would become the online museum. To date, over 1,500 pieces of content were received, making up 60% of the content used for building the digital museum.

The Digital National Museum of Brazil is the first digital version of the institution presented in a language other than Portuguese. Through the joint efforts of QQ Browser, the National Museum of Brazil and the Brazilian embassy, industry experts from both countries were provided an opportunity to communicate directly.
