Global Times: China Post to issue commemorative stamps of Weifang kites

WEIFANG,China,Dec. 20,2022 -- A news report from Global Times:

China Post Group Co.,Ltd. will issue a set of four commemorative and special stamps of Weifang kites on Sept. 9,2023.

Weifang city in east China's Shandong Province is the birthplace of the country's kite culture. Since the first Weifang International Kite Festival was held in the city in 1984,the annual festival has been held 39 times.

During the fifth Weifang International Kite Festival in 1988,Weifang was crowned as the world's kite capital. The kite has become a bridge and bond for expanding international economic and cultural exchanges,enhancing friendship among peoples of all countries,and injecting vitality into economic and cultural development in Weifang.

Each of the stamps has a face value of 1.2 yuan (about $0.17). The issuance of the stamps will be of great significance to carrying forward China's fine traditional culture,promoting Weifang's kite culture,and building the city's brand name.
