China's Tai'an builds green manufacturing sector as first stage towards transforming the city into a robust industry hub
TAI'AN,China,May 11,2022 -- Tai'an,the city in ShandongProvince made famous by the nearby MountTai,one of the five most-known mountains in China,held the launch ceremony of a talent empowerment initiative as part of the effort to build the city into a robust industrial hub. At the ceremony,hiring information supplied by the city's largest employers was made available in a move to attract talented individuals across a broad spectrum of industries and job categories. Tai'an welcomes any and all who have an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset to come and start businesses in the city. By bringing in the talent to revitalize existing industries,or establish new industries by attracting the right talent,Tai'an seeks to create a dynamic environment that will foster the integrated development of industry and the talent that will drive its growth.
The creation of a strong and newly industrialized city is the top priority in Tai'an's economic agenda,driven by the goal of having in place at least 2,000 firms generating an aggregate operating revenue of 400 billion yuan (approx. US$60 billion) or more by 2025. High-end,digital,intelligent and zero carbon companies,as well as companies whose main business is to build and expand industry chains and clusters with distinctive features and advantages will be favored. With technological advancement,resource conservation,environmental protection and social progress as key factors,the city plans to create a green manufacturing sector encompassing key industries and clustered by industry with the goal of adding approximately 15 green factories with a provincial-level government designation or above.
As part of future plans,the city will put a special emphasis on the development of four existing industries – high-end equipment manufacturing,new materials,modern food and high-end chemicals,as well as the expansion into several industries with good prospects for the future – alternative and renewable energies,pharmaceuticals and medical equipment,publishing and printing,and textiles and clothing,in addition to the acceleration of the formation of a digital economy. Looking at the more immediate future,Tai'an's government will focus on helping local companies upgrade their existing equipment,with the goal of implementing 500 such upgrades within the year.
