China's Belt and Road Initiative spawns new opportunities of transnational medical synergy

BEIJING,Sept. 29,2018 -- China's the Belt and Road Initiative celebrates its fifth anniversary this fall. To further promote economic and cultural exchanges and co-construction advocating the initiative,China's Ministry of Commerce and the Research and Training Institute of National Radio and Television Administration organized the 2018 Seminar for Foreign Officials and Media People under the Belt and Road Initiative this September.

As part of the 3-week seminar program,43 national officials and journalists from 17 countries along the Belt and Road,including Malaysia,Ethiopia,Afghanistan,and Albania,visited Senyint,the largest internet medical network connecting physical hospitals in China,to learn about China's latest development and cutting-edge technology innovation in telemedicine and internet-based medical ecology.

"Medical cooperation is an important field for the Belt and Road Initiative. Through visiting outstanding domestic healthcare and medical technology enterprises,I truly hope that delegates will better understand China's strength in healthcare technology innovation,which will in turn promote multilevel-lateral coordinated development in the future," said Zhu Jiadi,director of the Research and Training Institute of National Radio and Television Administration.

Zhang Qiwei,vice president and chief technology officer of Senyint,welcomed and greeted the delegates,with a general introduction of Senyint and the company's successful cases.

"Established in 2010,Senyint provides in-hospital information and construction service of telemedicine for hospitals and governments. Based on the inter-hospital internet medical network in China,Senyint,by the first quarter of 2018,has covered 31 provinces,276 regions and cities,and over 5,000 hospitals in China,leading to fast growth in performance."

Wang Zhao,vice president of business strategy of Senyint,presented to the delegates creative operation mode of the company. Delegates experienced the telemedicine platform through live communicating via three LED screens with doctors at ahospital based in Shenyang,700km from Beijing.

Telemedicine platforms built by Senyint have provided services to over 5,700 hospitals,connecting hospitals,clinics,doctors and patients across China with valued medical services provided through the network. "Taking Guizhou province for example,36,000 remote consultation and 190,000 remote diagnosis have taken place since the platform being built,enabling hospitals at all levels to cooperate with synergy," said Zhao. "I hope this visit and demonstration can help the delegatesadvance their understanding of our 'Healthy China 2030' plan and realize China's capability in healthcare innovation."

A few delegates also tried out a series of the latest products at Senyint,such as three-dimensional image reconstruction operations and mobile medical equipment.

Mohammad Qasim Erfani,an official from Afghanistan,was amazed by the progress China has made in medical technologies and said that he was looking forward to seeing more collaboration between Senyint and countries and regions that take part in the Belt and Road Initiative.

"We have great expectationsfor new opportunities brought by cutting-edge medical technologies and equipment. Senyint can share more transnational medical resources to enhance the healthy condition of more people," said Erfani.
