Rostec to Launch BrainReader Neuro Interface onto the International Market
BEIJING,April 29,2019 -- The Avtomatika Concern (part of Russia's State Corporation Rostec) will launch onto the international market the BrainReader universal neural interface, which enables the information 'exchange' between the human brain and any external device equipped with the appropriate interaction interfaces (home appliances, computers, exoskeletons, artificial sense organs, wheelchairs). The concern has already started obtaining permits in order to enter Asian markets.
After the devicewas presented at MedlabAsiaPacific& Asia Health 2019 exhibition, where its capabilities sparked great interest, offers regardingBrainReaderdistribution were received from Asian companies,in particular from Indonesia and Malaysia. The device is being developed by I.S. Brook Institute of Electronic Control Machines (INEUM).
"Disruptiveneurotech solutions, such as BrainReader, are the technologies of the future that change lives and open up new opportunities for development of science and technology. The neuroheadset can be used to control 'smart' systems and robotics,it can be applied in healthcare for the rehabilitation of disabled people, for studies of the human brain, its mental activity, sleep, and in many other areas. It is important to note that the device has a good export potential. Its closest competitor in terms of functions is an American neuro headset, which is about 3 times more expensive," said Oleg Yevtushenko, the Executive Director of Rostec.
The neuroheadsetcan register the surface electroencephalogram in vivo; it imposes no limits on the user's mobility. The data capturing method is non-invasive: specially designed "dry" electrodes do not require the use of electrically conductive gel. The high quality of the recorded signal processing allows the stable operation of the device even in highly crowded places, such as in public transport, where it is surrounded by a large number of transmitters and other sources of interference.
"Neuroheadsets are extremely important for such areas of medicine as neurophysiology, neuropsychology, and neurology. Its main applications include: robotic limb prostheses, smart home systems, and manipulators in computer games. We see great prospects for it in exploring the perception and processing of information by our brain,as well as in neuromarketing, which studies customer behavior,in the education field, where neuro headsets are used today to teach schoolchildren the basics of neurophysiology, and robotics," commented Vladimir Kabanov,Director General of theAvtomatika Concern.
According to a study conducted by Allied Market research, the brain-computer interface market is growing at an accelerated pace and as early as in 2020 it will reach about $1.46 billion.
The Avtomatika Concern specializes in the information security, development and production of technical means and systems of secret communications, protected information and telecommunication systems,as well as special-purpose automated control systems. The company's product line includes encryption devices, information security solutions, secure video conferencing systems, secure automatic telephone exchange facilities, system solutions such as Safe City,Smart City,Internet of Things, equipment for automation of electoral processes, system solutions for security and monitoring the status of infrastructure facilities, satellite equipment, and other products.
