Segway's Innovative "Navimow" Robotic Lawnmower To Go On Sale In Europe This Summer
BEIJING,May 11,2022 --The first units of Segway's innovative robotic lawnmower,Navimow, are due to go on sale in twelve European countries from the end of May,just in time for the summer season. Segway's Navimow model systematically, not randomly, mows the lawn and promises an optimally manicured lawn without any perimeter wire, setting itself apart from most commercially available devices that only work accurately when boundary cords are attached in the garden. With an iF Gold Award winning app for the device, the best possible lawn care can be child's play in the future at the touch of a button.
"The first Navimow robotic lawnmowers are already on their way to Europe, and we are seeing huge demand, hence more units are to follow in September in anticipation of next year's gardening season," says George Ren,General Manager at Segway BU.
Checklist for optimal user experience
Prior to purchase,Segway strongly recommends answering a special checklist that includes various questions about the condition of the lawn. This collects diverse information, such as the shape of the lawn or whether there are large trees on the surface that could block the signal, which determines if the device will have the best performance on the lawn. "In any case, for an optimal user experience, consumers are advised to complete the checklist before making their purchase decision," explains general manager Ren. The checklist will be posted on all Segway channels from around mid-May. The first thousand customers who purchase a Navimow by July 31 will automatically be part of the Navimow Pilot UserProgram and will receive a free antenna extension kit in addition to the robotic mower for an even greater using experience.
Virtual zones,real efficiency
The Exact Fusion Locating System (EFLS),a type of fusion locating technology, helps Navimow achieve the highest possible positioning accuracy. "At the core of this technology is the use of GNSSsatellite signals to achieve centimeter-level positioning accuracy through real-time kinematics," Ren explains. A map in the app can be used to define precise zones and boundaries – for example where Navimow should work, where the boundaries are and which zones in the garden it should avoid on its trip. "Once the working area in the garden is defined,Navimow doesn't criss-cross,but rather determines a systematic mowing path thanks to its intelligent navigation algorithm and follows it," Ren points out.
Intelligence in everyday life
In the field of robotic lawnmowers,Segway has identified potential for improvement in terms of user experience and intends to take the robotic lawnmower industry to the next level with Navimow from early summer. As the quietest mower on the market at just 54 dB(A),the Navimow brings a new level of quietness to European gardens. With its five-centimeter-thick rubber all-terrain wheels,Navimow easily handles slopes of 45 percent and has an IPX6 water resistance rating, meaning it can withstand rainfall, heavy splashing, and high-pressure water jets,as well as spilled drinks.
Aside from the enduring hardware,a specially designed Navimow app adds to the ease of lawn mowing. It has a simplified user interface that allows new users to easily adjust network settings, create a mowing map,and manage schedules among other features. Earlier this month the app stood out from over 10,000 products and projects receiving an iF Gold Award.
"Our goal, however,is not to be a tool manufacturer, but to provide users with labor-saving and intelligent solutions with the help of robotics," adds Ren.
