Taught in a series of four intensive in-class modules – two in Boston and two in Shanghai – this program will span from December 2018 to July 2019. Participants will examine the unprecedented challenges many Chinese companies face in a crowded marketplace, such as copycat competitors, higher labor costs, and slower growth.

Participants will also explore the practices of business leaders around the world and engage in guided reflection on their own leadership approach. Through this period of full-time,highly focused learning, executives will examine their organization's challenges through a new lens, apply key lessons from the program, develop an individual Value Mapping strategy, and put new leadership skills into action.

"As companies in China aim to seize new opportunities, many executives are looking for innovative strategies and tactics to optimize the financial performance of their business and drive long-term growth," said Felix Oberholzer-Gee,Andreas Andresen Professor of Business Administration and faculty chair of the Senior Executive Leadership Program—China. "The program will deliver a broad view of ways to engineer business success in a world of rapid technological change,ever-rising labor costs, uneven growth, and political uncertainty."

The Senior Executive Leadership Program—China's curriculum will focus on the challenges of greatest concern to company leaders today: how to succeed in an environment of slower growth, cost pressures, and relentless competition in China and around the globe. The intensive in-class modules are complemented by professional coaching.

This program is designed for senior executives leading successful, established companies from any industry in Greater China who are interested in sharpening their business management and leadership skills. Individuals from both state-owned and private-owned corporations who are preparing to assume new responsibilities or are looking to further their knowledge on how to take advantage of new growth opportunities are encouraged to apply.

As with other HBS Executive Education offerings, the Senior Executive Leadership Program—China will rely on research from leading HBS faculty, collaboration with industry peers, and learnings from real-world case studies from successful, innovative global companies.
